LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Attendees at a town hall called on the city and county of Los Angeles to join other cities in guaranteeing a lawyer to those facing eviction.

The Right to Counsel Coalition formed in June 2018 to call for a Renters’ Right to Counsel for tenants facing eviction, including legal representation, eviction prevention services, and emergency rental assistance. Together the coalition developed a Right to Counsel Proposal for the City and County of Los Angeles; is currently implementing an emergency eviction prevention program countywide; and continues to campaign for codified right to legal representation for all tenants facing eviction across Los Angeles.
